Why industrial decarbonisation matters in the NDC 3.0 process

INETTT and UNIDO – discussions on industrial decarbonisation challenges and solutions

About this event

INETTT contributed to an event hosted by the UN Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) that focused on the critical importance of industrial decarbonisation as countries prepared to develop their next round of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

The discussion highlighted emerging opportunities for reducing emissions in the industrial sector, covering current global trends, available clean technologies and policy measures that support the transition. INETTT emphasised how evidence-based research and collaboration among think tanks can inform effective industrial decarbonisation strategies.

Representatives from UNIDO, international development organisations and think tanks from various regions engaged in a dialogue on how supporting institutions can assist countries in overcoming the technical and financial barriers to aligning their industrial sectors with net-zero targets. The event underscored the pivotal role of multi-stakeholder cooperation in scaling up climate action within industries to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.
