The path to tripling renewables: Diagnosing barriers, delivering solutions
Join our launch webinar to discover two new policy tools aimed at guiding action for accelerating renewables deployment and energy transition policies worldwide.
About this event
The rapidly falling costs of renewable energy technologies such as solar PV and wind power mean that technology costs are no longer the main constraint on the energy transition in many parts of the world. Instead, governments are increasingly focused on ensuring the transition drives energy systems that are secure and affordable for consumers, businesses and industry, all while meeting increasingly ambitious climate targets.
Still, countries are not currently on track to achieve the goal of tripling global renewable capacity by 2030. Renewables expansion is often slowed by policy and regulatory barriers related to institutional, planning, procurement or system integration challenges.
Despite frequent calls for “new policy and regulatory frameworks” to accelerate deployment, policymakers need for more specific tools to guide action. To help address this, the International Network of Energy Transition Think Tanks (INETTT) and Agora Energiewende have developed two complementary resources:
Renewable Energy Policy Framework (REPF): Power
A structured, transferable methodology for identifying key policy and regulatory barriers to solar and wind deployment and mapping opportunities to address them. While designed for any context, the framework has already been piloted across eight Asian countries, demonstrating its practical applicability and flexibility.
Policy Guide: Enabling energy transitions
A one‑stop energy transition guide presenting best practices and real-world case studies across five interrelated policy areas – strategic planning; financing; renewables integration; building resilient industry and value chains; and advancing people-centred transitions.
This webinar marks the launch of our integrated web platform, which brings together the REPF and Policy Guide in an accessible, user‑friendly format. Experts from the International Network of Energy Transition Think Tanks and Agora Energiewende will share insights from their countries, highlighting key barriers to scaling renewables, opportunities for reform and the path to an equitable transition across geographies. Join us to explore how these resources can help accelerate renewable energy deployment around the world.
