PyPSA-Hydrogen training
This intensive 4-day INETTT training on the PyPSA modelling framework for hydrogen takes place as part of INETTT’s Data Working Group. By working with open data and building hydrogen production models, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how data-driven modelling can inform regional opportunities and challenges for developing green hydrogen.
About this training
This training is organised in close collaboration with the Energy Data and Modelling team at Agora Think Tanks, open exclusively to INETTT, and is designed to introduce participants to the PyPSA (Python for Power System Analysis) framework and provide hands-on experience in building and applying a green hydrogen production model. Over the course of four days, participants will acquire technical knowledge and collaborate in a hackathon-style format to develop practical tools and insights relevant to their country or region. The training will be hosted by Moroccan INETTT member think tank IMAL Initiative for Climate and Development.
Participants will engage in:
- Guided technical sessions on PyPSA components and hydrogen production modelling
- Collaborative hackathon work, applying skills to develop concrete tools such as hydrogen cost maps or business opportunity analysers
- Mentored project development, with ongoing support from trainers and peers
- Networking and exchange, strengthening collaboration across INETTT think tanks
Programme structure:
- Day 1: Introduction to PyPSA and building a basic model
- Day 2: Introduction to hydrogen production modelling and project launch
- Days 3 & 4: Hackathon project work and presentations
Who can apply?
