Industrial value chains in the time of energy and climate crisis: State of play and recommendations
How can industrial value chains be decarbonised in the context of the ongoing energy and climate crises?
About this event
At COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, representatives from the International Network of Energy Transition Think Tanks and Climate Group came together to discuss the critical role of industry in the global effort to achieve climate neutrality by mid-century.
This event focused on the state of play within industrial value chains during a time of overlapping energy and climate crises. Speakers shared country-level perspectives and policy experiences, highlighting both challenges and opportunities in decarbonising key sectors.
The discussion emphasised the need for coordinated action across industries, governments and civil society, as well as concrete recommendations for accelerating the transition to low-carbon industrial systems.
With industry accounting for a significant share of global emissions, this session underlined its central role in meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement, and why decisions made today will shape the future of climate and economic resilience.
