The EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism: Considerations for Indonesia
From compliance challenge to industrial transformation opportunity: New impact study examines the CBAM's impact on Indonesia.
Preface
The EU’s CBAM is now in force, marking a significant shift in global climate and trade policy. For Indonesia, the world's 13th largest steel producer and a rising industrial power house, this creates both risk and opportunities.
This case study explores the potential consequences of CBAM implementation on Indonesia, highlighting nuances at the national and subnational levels, the country’s preparedness, and possible responses. It was developed with INETTT member, Institute for Essential Services Reform.
INETTT’s CBAM impact series aims to provide a better understanding of its implications for selected exporting countries and how CBAM implementation can help shape sustainable pathways for global decarbonisation.
