The EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism: Considerations for Brazil

Launch of new INETTT impact study series examining the implications of the EU's CBAM for selected exporting countries.

Preface

The European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) took full effect in January 2026, marking a significant shift in global climate and trade policy.

This case study explores the impacts of the CBAM on Brazil, along with the country's preparedness and possible responses. It was developed with local INETTT member, E+ Energy Transition Institute

INETTT’s CBAM impact series aims to enhance understanding of the mechanism's effectiveness, the challenges likely to arise, and how CBAM implementation can help shape sustainable pathways for global decarbonisation.
